Morning Rituals
I hate mornings, particularly weekday mornings.
Yes, hate may seem like a strong word to use, but to use another word would just make me a liar.
Weekday mornings consist of me running around feeding my furbabies, getting my daughter ready for school, myself for work; all while scarfing down a nutritious breakfast. I can never seem to get my act together. The one thing that keeps me sane during the week is the daily affirmations I have programmed as reminders on my calendar and the ones I receive each morning via my spiritjunkie app.
Saturdays and Sundays are my sweet spot; these are the mornings I truly adore. On these days, the first thing I do is cuddle with furbabies.
Once our cuddle session is over, I head to kitchen to make a cup of tea. As a caffeine addict, I prefer black teas like Earl Grey, English Breakfast or Chai. I take the tea to the couch and revel in the morning silence. This is my time to collect my thoughts and destress before I tackle my chores and tasks of the day.
After tea, I read for approximately 30-45 minutes. On the weekends, reading is easier to accomplish than during the hectic workweek. Right now, I'm trying to finish Mainstreet Vegan by Victoria Moran. Reading only on the weekends makes it hard to finish a book but reading slowly is better than not reading at all. Right?!
Mornings are sacred, important and invaluable. I value the quiet and solitude I get each morning. For me, the best part of the morning is that each new one gives us the opportunity to do things our way.
Are your mornings sacred time? What are your morning rituals?
