Happy New Year!
I had an amazing holiday with my family in Los Angeles. It’s been over 20 years since my last California Xmas and it was just as fabulous as I remembered. We ate, drank, cooked, baked and shared memories of the good old days.
December, in all its holiday splendor is a challenging time of year because it’s reminds us of all the losses that have profoundly impacted our family. We’ve lost our grandfather, a newborn cousin and my brother; not in the same year but all in the month of December. While our lives will never be the same without our loved ones, at least we have cherished memories to ease our pain.
Spending time with family this time of the year is blissful; leaving them is incredibly hard. Each time I visit, it gets harder and harder to leave. While flying home, I predictably begin hatching my relocation to Los Angeles. Sadly, a cross-country move isn’t in the cards for me right now.
I learned so much from family about life and love during my visit. I am so thankful to have an amazing family that is always generous, fun and incredibly loving.
Hope you had an amazing holiday season. Happy New Year!
