Being Your #Mother
You look at me with so much love and amazement in your eyes. Sometimes I catch you examining my face in hopes of finding features we share.
You mimic my handwriting, speech and attitude because you admire the woman you think I am. At times it feels like I'm undeserving of this attention for it's you who truly deserves the admiration.
As a little girl, I never had the courage to voice my feelings and emotions for fear that it would create conflict. You however, my dear daughter, share your feelings with the kind of courage I'm not even sure I possess as an adult. You're not afraid to be afraid. Or to be sad. Or mad.
When you were born my heart was broken open. Compassion and love oozed from my pores as I experienced a love I never felt before. This has resulted in me being a more generous, understanding, thoughtful woman. Being your mother has taught me so much. You are the reason I am the person I am today. Your love and faith has made me a better mom, friend and person.
Thank you for making this day and everyday a wonderful Mother's Day.
